On Sunday, October 30, 2016 on her 69th birthday, Mrs. Onnolea Jean Johnson Jennings won her battle with cancer and went home to be with her Lord and Savior at Avante at Wilkes Nursing Center. Mrs. Jennings was born on October 30, 1947 in Sutton, WV to Charles Melvin and Myrtle Merriell Bollinger Johnson. Mrs. Jennings was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy Glenn Jennings, brother, Thomas L. Johnson, two sisters, Betty Lou Cook, Ollalee Conner, and daughter in-law, Chrystal Dawn Jennings. Onnolea was a devoted Christian woman. Her strong will and infectious smile were known well to her friends and family who dearly loved her. She enjoyed reading, and working puzzles with her babies. Onnolea was always willing to give and help anyone in any way she could and with her passing she has given her body to Wake Forest School of Medicine to further the study of medicine.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 6:00 pm at Buffalo Baptist Church by Rev. Ken Furches. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
Mrs. Jennings is survived by: daughter, Angela Reed and husband Chris of Jefferson, son, Billy Jennings of Hayes, two brothers, John Johnson of Servia, WV, Larry "Jim" Johnson of Wilsie WV, four sisters, Zelda Duffield of Boiling Springs, Mary Ruth Hacker of Wilsie, WV, Katherine Louise Clos of Hoboken, Deborah Bollinger-Johnson of Fountain, seven grandchildren, Stormy Dawn Jennings Davalos and husband Alejandro, Shandy Rae Miller and husband Daniel, Austin Daniel Reed, Emily Faith Reed, Caleb Scott Reed, Chloe Elaine Reed, Liam Charles Reed, three great-grandchildren, Davari Alejandro Davalos, Rita Leticia Davalos and Zaiden Mateo Davalos. Also suriving are several nieces and nephews.
