Tom Carrowon of Warrensville, NC went to be with the Lord Wednesday November 5, 2014. Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Tom moved to Maxton, NC as a young child. Tom and his wife Sara of 59 years, lived in Lumberton , NC for many years and retired to the mountains of Ashe County, NC. Tom was a dedicated family man, and he made certain his home in Lumberon or in the mountains was a welcoming place, always full of family and friends. He gave back to his communities and instilled his faith and civic service to his daughters. Tom had an affinity for woodworking and left the family many pieces to remember him by from simple birdhouses to a dining room buffet.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sara Everleigh, parents Ada Cornelius and Thomas C Carrowon, Sr., sister Evelyn Robinson and sister-in-laws Mary Elizabeth Apple, and Doris E Taylor. He is survived by his three daughters Kathy Boone of Banner Elk,NC, Lynn Turner and husband Brian Turner of Perth, Australia, and Beth Graves and her husband Mark Graves of Thomasville, NC. Also surviving are his four grandchildren Katie Pickens and husband Travis Pickens, Eli Boone, Nicole Graves, and Cory Graves. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren Ava, Emma, and Connor Pickens. He is also survived by sister Bernice Smith, brother in laws James W (Pete) Apple, Carl Everleigh, wife Elieen, Robert Everleigh, wife Fran and sister-in-law Viriginia Ashley, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends whom he loved.
Tom was laid to rest by his wife's side November 9, 2014.
