Mr. Nelson Eugene Woodards, better known as ?Nick?, age 65, of Lansing died Friday, June 8, 2007 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mr. Woodards was born in West Virginia on December 28, 1941 to the late Thomas Jefferson and Chessie Mae Shepherd Woodards. Including his parents he was preceded in death by his son Robert Keith Woodards, one sister Sue Nelson, two brothers, Red Woodards and Billy Jack Woodards. He worked for United Steel local 17 as an iron worker. He enjoyed boxing, UFC fighting, wrestling, woodworking, playing pool, playing rook and being with his family. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at 11:00am at New Home Baptist Church by Minister David Lyalls and Minister Danny Miller. Burial will follow in the Perry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9pm Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at Badger Funeral Home. Mr. Woodards is survived by, his first wife, Catherine Woodards Pavlik, his beloved one for life, Betty Miller, four daughters, Joyce Hopkins and Tina Shepherd, both of Elyria, Ohio, Deanna Zaklan of Akron, Ohio, and Heather Miller of Delaware, three brothers, Jimmy Woodards of Warrensvile, John Woodards, Bob Woodards of Louisiana, two sisters, Ann Wiley of Ohio, Mae Sexton of Tennessee. 4 grandsons, William D. Hopkins II, Christopher Nelson Hopkins, Corey Andrew Akers, Austin Michael Shepherd, 2 granddaughters, Cricket Neal, Iry Neal, 1 great-granddaughter, Mackenzie D.
