Nora Belle Hollifield McIntyre age 78 of Cherryville, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Nora was born on Tuesday, March 21, 1944 to Bergin and Nellie Stroupe Hollifield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ben Hollifield and Mike Hollifield and a sister, Barbara Hensley.
Nora graduated from Cherryville High School in 1962 and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting/Business Administration from Gaston College and later from Gardner-Webb University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services. She retired from Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont. Nora was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cherryville. Attending as a child and continuing through adulthood, even as her health declined, she enjoyed being able to participate via live-streaming church services. Nora was a very determined person that had an infectious smile and contagious laugh that filled any room. Her quick-wit, matter-of-factness, and sense of humor were unmatched. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, and spending time talking with family and friends. Most recently, her brightest joy came from keeping up with her three grandchildren on Facebook, spoiling them with care packages in the mail, and meeting them for lunch at Olive Garden.
Survivors include; her daughter, Holly Roten and husband Josh of Jefferson; three grandchildren, Lila Katherine Roten, Lawson Kendrick Roten and Lena Kaye Roten; siblings, Wayne Hollifield and wife, Shirley of Lincolnton, Norma "Decia" Winkler of Granite Falls, Kaye Craven and husband, Charlie of Charlotte, Tony Hollifield of New Mexico, and Roger Hollifield and wife, Sue of Oak Island; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cherryville. Pastor Keith Huss will officiate. Nora will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.
Graveside services will be held Friday, June 10, 2022 at 11:00 am at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer in Jefferson, NC. Reverend Dr. Michael Lea will officiate.
