Mrs. Norma Wyatt Cox, age 90, of Laurel Springs, NC died on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the Wilkes Senior Village in North Wilkesboro. Mrs. Cox was born on September 11, 1923 in Wilkes County, NC to Alec and Lizzie Roten Wyatt. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clay Conrad Cox; two daughters, Mildred Lyons and Margie Cox; two grandsons, Wayne Charles Lyons and Eddie Joe Whitley; one great grandson, Jessie James Lyons; two half brothers, Minter Wyatt and Elzie Wyatt. Mrs. Cox enjoyed growing flowers, traveling, going to the senior centers in Laurel Springs and West Jefferson, and spending time with her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
Mrs. Cox is survived by: one daughter, Deborah Royal of Millers Creek; also surviving are five grandsons, Jeffrey Lyons, John Lyons, James Lyons, Joe Lyons, and Anthony Royal; two great-grandsons, Jacob Lyons and Justin Lyons; a special friend and "sister", Hazel Carson of Hiddenite; several nieces and nephews.
