Pauline Cox Gilley, age 99 of West Jefferson died on Monday, November 9, 2015 at Watauga Medical Center in Boone. Mrs. Gilley was born on July 19, 1916 in Ashe County, NC to Jess and Polly Farmer Cox. Mrs. Gilley was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Gilley, a son, Joe Allen Gilley, brothers, Dale Blevins, Paul Gilley, Woodrow Cox, and Jack Cox, sisters, Omagean Payne and Berthie Blevins. Her hobbies included quilting, gardening, cooking, canning, and crocheting. She loved being around people. Mrs. Gilley was a member of Farmers Memorial Baptist Church. She retired from Sprague Electric Company.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Brother Ralph Smith. Entombment will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
Mrs. Gilley is survived by: Daughter, Judy Gilley Roark and husband Roy of West Jefferson, Grandson, Tim Roark and wife Angie of West Jefferson, Grandson, Ben Ham and wife Susan of Lansing, Brother, Robert Cox of Warrensville; also surviving are 5 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
