Pearl (Craven) Miller

Pearl Craven Miller, age 88 of Jefferson, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Margate Health and Rehab Center.  Pearl was born June 24, 1932 in Ashe County to the late Gene and Grace Bare Craven.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by sisters, Lena Gray and Cindy Butchie and brothers, Jerry and Joe Craven.  Ms. Miller always welcomed others to her home.  She was a strong, remarkable woman who loved everyone.  Pearl was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and foster grandparent.  She loved Lupe with all her heart and soul.  Pearl had a wonderful sense of humor and loved cooking, gardening and the color purple.

One of Pearl's nephews wrote a touching memorial that her loved ones have said describes her perfectly: "I loved my Aunt Pearl-one of the unique things I always noticed and admired about her back before her health began to decline was she always held a sense of style and gracefulness BUT best not confuse her gracefulness with weakness nor timidity!  I have many personal funny, touching, triumphant, and yes, some heartbreaking memories of your mom that I hope I will never forget.  One thing I can promise is I always have and will think of Aunt Pearl every time I see the color of lavender purple."

A gathering of close family and friends will be held from 2:00 - 3:00 pm Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Badger Funeral Home to celebrate the life of Pearl.

Ms. Miller is survived by her lifelong companion, Lupe Arciga, sons, Richard Freeman Miller and wife Joann of Lenoir, Richard Byrd Miller Jr. and wife Annetta of Creston, daughter, Pamela Ann Miller of Pinehurst, brother, Tommy Craven of Glendale Springs, grandchildren, Tiffany Miller, Joshua Langdon, Olivia Miller and Zachary Hunter, great-grandchildren, Ella Ann Holland, Dutch Holland, George Langdon and Jack Langdon.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers the family request that a flower be planted in Pearl’s memory or memorials be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
