Percy Clifton Eason age 78 of Jefferson, N.C. passed away on Friday, February 17th 2023 at the Margate Health and Rehab after a period of declining health. Percy was born in Johnston County NC to Henry Berry Eason and Kizzie Ada Allen Eason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 6 brothers and sisters. He was also preceded in death by his much loved Father and Mother-In-Law Earl and Josephine Pendergrass who treated him like their son, and of course, his beloved canine, Pooh. Percy left to cherish his memory his loving wife and caregiver, Barbara Pendergrass Eason of the home. Also surviving a daughter, Ginger Hales, a son, Clifton Eason, two brothers, John Eason (Brunette) and Cleo Eason, 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren all of the Wilson's Mills NC area. Several nieces (including a special niece Sissy that never forgot to call on his birthday for a long conversation) and several nephews also survive. Also his extended family and caregivers, Johnny and Carolyn Snyder and Burl and Evelyn Laws. Percy worked in structural steel, at one time was part owner of TT&E Iron and Metal in Raleigh, NC. After selling his business he bought property in Ashe County and as a Licensed General Contractor build several summer homes. He moved to Ashe County full time in 2005. Percy loved people, had a host of friends and a loving church family. He loved hunting bear, deer and wild hog with his friend Ed Blackley. He loved fishing off the pier at Morehead. He enjoyed canning, freezing and drying fruits. He loved his home life. He worked tirelessly on the building project for Divine Hope Baptist Church, saying "Everyone has a Talent." Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, February 21st at 2:00 p.m. at Divine Hope Baptist Church where he was a charter member. He will lie-in-state from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service. Officiating the service will be the Pastor, Rev. David Blevins and Rev. Johnny Huffman. Burial will follow in the Scott Blevins Cemetery. The family request no food please. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Divine Hope Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 594 West Jefferson, NC 28694.
