Mr. Raymond Whitehouse, age 90, of West Jefferson, died Thursday, July 11, 2002 at the Ashe Living Center in Jefferson, North Carolina. Mr. Whitehouse was a Sergeant serving the Jacksonville, Florida Police Force. He retired in l967. He was a member of the Jacksonville, Florida Morocco Shriner's Temple and Barnett Lodge #187 where he was awarded a Certificate of Fifty Years' Service in 2001. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.
Memorial services for Mr. Whitehouse will be conducted on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Louis Poag and members of the Ashe Masonic Lodge # 594. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial services at Badger Funeral Home. A private interment will be held at a later date.
Mr. Whitehouse is survived by his wife: Mrs. Ruby Whitehouse of the home; two sons: Ray Whitehouse, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, John Clyde "Jack" Whitehouse of the home; two daughters; Sandra White of Charleston, SC, and Cynthia Prescot of California, one brother, William Whitehouse of Macon GA; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild also survives.
