Rev. Charles "Charlie" Reece McCoy

Rev. Charles “Charlie” Reece McCoy, age 80 of Lansing passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Rev. McCoy was born on December 18, 1942 in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late David Riley McCoy and Rosa Marie Graybeal.  He was also preceded in death by one brother, Blaine McCoy and one sister, Ruth Neaves.

Charlie served as a minister for almost 50 years, pastoring in Watauga and Ashe County. During this time, he traveled to Maryland a total of forty nine times to preach revivals. He was also a proud grandfather, or Pop/Poppie, to his three grandsons.

Rev. McCoy is survived by his wife, Ethel Mae Roop McCoy, one son, David (Stephanie) McCoy of Statesville, one daughter, Vickie (John) Baldwin of Lansing, one sister, Loretta Goodman of Jefferson, three grandsons, Branson (Mary-Catherine) McCoy of Charlotte, Chase (Abby) Baldwin, and Coleman Baldwin of Lansing.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Lloyd Day and Rev. Tom Graybeal officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00pm on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
