Rev. Curtis William Wolfe

Rev. Curtis W. Wolfe was born November 9, 1928 in Elbert, WV, the son of the late Glen M and Daisy Callaham Wolfe. He was called to his "Eternal Rest" May 18, 2013 at Ashe Memorial Hospital in Jefferson, NC. He joined Cox's Grove Baptist Church in 1947, where he remained a faithful, loyal and dedicated member until his health began to fade.

He received his G.E.D. and degree in Early Childhood Development from Wilkes Community College.

Rev. Wolfe committed his life to the service of others in his community, his nation and to his God. He served in the U.S. Army from March 5, 1951 to November 27, 1956. He served on various community boards. He touched the lives of many youngsters as an educator with the Head Start program. He was called to preach the Gospel on December 1, 1956 and ordained April 15, 1961. He pastored several churches in the New Covenant Baptist Association and served as vice moderator and moderator of the Association for a number of years.

Rev. Wolfe was preceded in death by his mother and father, two sisters, and four brothers. He leaves to cherish his precious memories two brothers - Kermit Wolfe of the home and Rev. Ray Wolfe of Michigan. Also surviving are a host of nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Silas Hart, Rev. Roosevelt Carlton, Rev. David Blackburn, Rev. Douglas L. Callahan, and Rev. Jackie Reeves. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in Cox's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm Friday evening at Ashelawn.
