Rev. Paul Gene Sturgill

Rev. Paul Gene Sturgill, age 85 of Lansing, the Helton community, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020. Mr. Sturgill was born on October 14, 1934 in Ashe County to Fitzhugh Carl and Blannie Emaline Spencer Sturgill. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edra Allen Wilcox Sturgill; two brothers, John Sturgill and Breece Sturgill; and two sisters, Neva Nobles and Ruth Sturgill.

Rev. Sturgill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and picking huckleberries, He was a member and former pastor of Zion Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed reading and talking about the Bible.

Rev. Sturgill is survived by:  one brother, Dean Sturgill and wife Phyllis of Lansing; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will follow in Spencer Branch Cemetery.

The body will lie in state from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
