The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service Thursday afternoon. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Ashe County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1776, West Jefferson, NC 28694.

He is also survived by a sister, Helen Triplett of Deep Gap, NC. He will be remembered by two special granddaughters, Amy Sturgill of Atlanta, GA and Mary Clare Jones of Nashville, TN. Also surviving are a special caregiver, Brenda Triplett, and many, many friends who looked forward to a wave or a "throw of the hand" as they passed his home.
