Richard Henry McGrady

Richard Henry McGrady age 82, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 31, 2019.  He was born April 5, 1936 in Grayson County, VA to Robert Oscar and Flossie Mae Davis McGrady.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Geneva McGrady Johnson
and a brother Kyle McGrady.  Richard retired from Sprague Electric (United Chemi-con) after 30 years of service.  He was a founding member of the Rugby Rescue Squad. Richard enjoyed fishing, bluegrass, and most of all being around people.  He never met a stranger and was loved far and wide.  His big smile always lit up a room.  He was a wonderful husband and a proud father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Richard is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lena (Pat) Testerman McGrady, a daughter, Darlis McGrady Farmer and husband Dwayne of Warrensville, and a son, Lindsay McGrady and wife, Sharon of West Jefferson; three grandsons; Dustin Farmer and wife, Myla of West Jefferson, Seth McGrady and wife Caitlin of Elizabethton, TN, and Benjamin McGrady and wife Megan of West Jefferson.  He is also survived by two sisters, Ruth McGrady and Louise McGrady both of Independence, VA and three great grandchildren Noah, Isabella, and Rikki Anna Farmer as well as several nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends.

The family will receive friends Sunday, February 3rd from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel in Jefferson with a memorial service to follow. His grandson Rev. Dustin Farmer and his son, Rev. Lindsay McGrady will be officiating.
