On April 8, 2024, the world lost a remarkable soul as Rolin Davis, affectionately known as "Buck", passed away at his residence. He was born on July 31, 1934, in Ashe County, NC. He led a fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy that touched the hearts of all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents Bruner and Bina Mayberry Davis; son-in-law Michael Burress; and wife Mary Stansberry Davis.
Mr. Davis served in the US Army during the Korean War, showcasing his courage and dedication to his country as a tank operator. After his military service, he embarked on a career as a construction engineer at Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation, where he devoted 36 years of hard work and expertise.
Described as kind and friendly, Buck never met a stranger. His warm personality and genuine nature made him a beloved figure in his community. Outside of work, he found solace and joy as a member of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church. Throughout his life, Buck exemplified what it meant to walk in the light of his faith. His devotion to the Lord was a guiding force that gave him strength and comfort in both joyful and challenging times. May we find solace in knowing that Buck has now found his "brand new home," where he is welcomed with open arms into eternal peace
Buck's love and devotion extended beyond his professional and personal endeavors to encompass his cherished family. He is survived by his three daughters: Sandra (David) Howell of West Jefferson, Trina (Tim) Sheets of Jefferson, Gina Burress of Crumpler; and one son, Travis (Lisa) Davis of Jefferson, his brother Bob Davis of Lansing, two sisters Nell Carter and Ann Harless both of West Jefferson. Additionally, he leaves behind a beautiful legacy through his nine grandchildren: Heather Parsons, Brandon Burress, Dylan Sheets, Rebecca Howell, Theran Sheets, Iralynn Hendricks, Landon Davis, Kaydon Davis & Nolan Davis; as well as 5 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The services to honor and celebrate his life will take place at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel in Jefferson on April 12th, 2024 at 1:00 pm by Pastor Frank Woods and Speaker Johnny Stansberry. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens with Military and Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm prior to the funeral service.
Today we remember Buck not with tears but with smiles that echo the joy he brought into our lives. May his soul rest in eternal peace knowing that he was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
