Rondal "Ronnie" Paul Sturgill

Rondal "Ronnie" Paul Sturgill, a devoted son, a loyal soldier, and a cherished member of the Friendship Baptist Church community, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family, friends, and faith.

Born on December 27, 1946 to the late Joe and Kathleen Witherspoon Sturgill., Ronnie's life was characterized by a deep sense of duty and commitment. He served his country with pride and honor in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968, stationed in Germany.

Friendship Baptist Church held a special place in Ronnie's heart, where he served as a deacon, sang joyfully in the choir, and contributed to the community as a member of the cemetery board. His selflessness extended beyond the church walls; he maintained a beautiful tradition of sending cards to fellow church members on special occasions and holidays, showing his thoughtfulness and care for those around him.

Ronnie had a playful side, enjoying games like Bingo and Rook, where he shared many laughs and precious moments with loved ones. He was a big Dolly Parton fan and enjoyed listening to her music.  However, his true passion lay in the kitchen, where he showcased his culinary talents. Ronnie was renowned for his culinary skills, especially his famous biscuits and gravy that brought warmth and comfort to the hearts of many.

But perhaps the most remarkable aspect of Ronnie's life was his unwavering devotion to his family. He served as a devoted caregiver to his mother until her passing, exemplifying the love and dedication he had for those he held dear. Although he had no children of his own, Ronnie took immense pride in his role as an uncle to his nieces and nephew and as a great-uncle to their children. He cared for them like his own, treating them with the love and attention they deserved, making them feel like his children and grandchildren.

In the many chapters of Ronnie's life, his kindness, selflessness, and commitment to family and faith shone brightly. He touched the lives of many and will be remembered with love and gratitude by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mr. Sturgill is survived by: two brothers, Larry Sturgill and wife Nellie of Statesville, Jimmy Sturgill and wife Gloria of Warrensville, nieces and nephew, Andrea Thomas and husband Brett of Statesville, Jeannine Osborne and husband Allen of Crumpler, James Sturgill of Kinsgport, TN, great-nieces and great-nephews, Kaylyn Keller, Isabella Sturgill, Reese Sturgill and Luke Osborne.
