Ronnie Bruce Elliott

Ronnie Bruce Elliott, age 67, of Lansing, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Watauga Medical Center. He was born on June 21, 1956 to the late Garland Bruce and Geraldine Calhoun Elliott.

Ronnie found joy in life's simple pleasures, particularly through fishing, vegetable gardening, and woodworking. His dedication to his faith was evident in his role as a deacon and member of Pleasant Chapel Baptist Church, where he found solace and community. He held a profound love for the Lord and found peace in worship.

Ronnie's commitment to service extended beyond his faith community; he served his country honorably in the US Marine Corps for 20 years before dedicating another 20 years to the United States Postal Service. His work ethic and dedication were unwavering, leaving a lasting impact on those around him.

Above all, Ronnie's heart overflowed with love for his family, especially his grandchildren. He was their biggest cheerleader, attending every event and celebration to support and encourage them. His presence brought warmth and joy to those around him.

Ronnie will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 26 years, Janet Hart Elliott, who stood by his side through life's journey. He is also survived by his two sons, Scottie May of Mouth of Wilson and Eddie May of Lansing, along with three brothers: Donnie Elliott of Lansing, Jerry Elliott (Amanda) of Crumpler, and Terry Elliott (Jenni) of West Jefferson. His sister, Charlotte Barr (Rick) of Crumpler, also mourns his passing. A devoted family man, Ronnie leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter through his six grandchildren, Hailey Bare, Heather Bell, Brandon May, Jacob May, Matthew May and Daniel May, two great-grandchildren, Rosalee Bell and Delilah Bell and several nieces and nephews. He cherished every moment spent with them and took great pride in their accomplishments.

Funeral services to honor his life will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 1, 2024 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel, by Preacher David Lyalls and Preacher Tommy Minton. Following the service, Ronnie will be laid to rest in the John Goss Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service.

In the quiet moments and fond memories, Ronnie's spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those he leaves behind. Though he may be gone from our sight, his love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him best.
