Ruby Belle Osborne Hamm, age 82, of Elyria Ohio, died Monday, September 25, 2006 at Center Ridge Nursing Home in North Ridgeville, Ohio following a lengthy illness. She was born August 15, 1924 in Lansing, North Carolina to the late Oscar Delmer and Lockie Landreth Osborne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jones V. Hamm, and brothers, Raymond and William Osborne.
Ruby had made her home in Elyria for the last fifty years. She was employed in housekeeping at the Oberlin College for many years before retiring in 1992. She was a member of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church in South Amherst. Ruby enjoyed crafts, flowers, reading, sewing and shopping.
Survivors include her brother Joseph Osborne of Elyria and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday, September 28, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. and Friday, September 29, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, OH. The Rev. Carson Fraley, pastor of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church in South Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens in Jefferson, NC on Monday, October 2, 2006 at 10:00 a.m.
