Ruth Miller Lewis, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at her home on July 13, 2023 at age 77, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures. She was a remarkable woman who found joy in the beauty of gardening, caring for her family and cooking delicious Sunday dinners. Ruth’s beloved garden was a sanctuary, filled with colorful blossoms that she tended to with meticulous care. Ruth also found great joy in creating a warm and loving home. On many Sundays, she would gather her family around the table for a hearty meal, sharing stories, laughter, and creating cherished memories. She also found inspiration and comfort in listening to preaching on the radio. The messages of hope, forgiveness, and compassion touched her soul and gave her peace.
Mrs. Lewis was born on December 16, 1945, Ashe County, North Carolina to the late, Carl Winfield and Bertha Clyde Shepherd Miller. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Dean Lewis “Pete”, three sisters, Doris Miller, Opal Dutton and Helen Weaver, four brothers, Brian Miller, Norman Miller, Orvil Miller and Russ Miller.
Ruth's memory will be forever cherished by her family. She is survived by her sons, Timothy Dean Lewis and wife Tina of Creston and Christopher Allen Lewis of West Jefferson, one brother, Burl Dean Miller of Lansing as well as five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She will also be deeply missed by her extended family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00pm Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
Graveside services will follow in the Lewis Family Cemetery by Rev
. Joey McClure, Rev. Tommy Dollar and Rev. Tommy Stephens.
