S. Dianne Martin

S. Dianne Martin, age 80, of Statesville, NC formerly of Todd, NC, passed away on July 14, 2024, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Montgomery, AL on June 29, 1944, she was the cherished daughter of the late Henry Waters and Arlene S. King. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Waters "Buddy" King, and her beloved husband, James R. Martin.

Dianne is survived by her son, James R. Martin, Jr., and his wife Debi; her daughter, Theresa Martin; and her two grandchildren, Jenna Martin and Sean Martin, all of Statesville.

Dianne graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in Special Education. She had a profound passion for working with individuals with special needs and dedicated her career to their education and support. She taught at the Fletcher School in Charlotte and in Florida, leaving a lasting impact on her students and colleagues.

A devoted member of First Baptist Church of Statesville, Dianne found joy and solace in singing with the church choir. Her love for music and faith was a testament to her kind and compassionate spirit.

Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church of Statesville by Dr. Nelson Granade. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm one hour prior to the service.

Dianne's legacy of love, dedication, and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the community she served so passionately.
