Sandra (Walters) Turner

Our dear mother, Sandra Walters Turner age 73, of Union Grove sadly passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 surrounded by her family at the Mountain Valley Hospice House. She was born on March 16, 1949 in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late James Bowers Walters and Nellie Marie Crepps Walters.

She was an amazing mother and grandmother who was always there when we needed her. Sandy was an amazing cook and loved to sew. She loved her children and grandchildren and her family was her whole life.

Sandy is preceded in death by her son, Jeff Gilley, brother Jimmy Walters, Father James Bower Walters, and Mother Nellie Marie Crepps Walters. She sadly leaves behind her daughter Deborah Holcomb (husband Darrell), Dennis Bryan Turner Jr. (Wife Brenda), like-a-daughter Lori Walters, grandchildren Dustin, Dylan, Haiden (husband Michael), Brothers Donnie, Ray, Keith, Chris and also leaves behind best friend Loretta Walters and many nieces, nephews, and other family. All of these she loved and touched deeply.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 3:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Greg Freeman.  Burial will follow in The Big Ridge Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00pm one hour prior to the service at Ashelawn; physical address 3470 US Highway 221 N. Crumpler, NC 28617.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the family in care of Badger Funeral Home; 300 E. Main Street, West Jefferson, NC 28694.

The family  would like to personally thank the Hugh Chatham ICU staff and Mountain Valley Hospice Care Team for providing outstanding care to our dear Mother.
