Sarah Blevins

Sarah Lucretta Gaultney Blevins, age 91, of Kannapolis, NC, formerly of Ashe County died Monday, July 28, 2003 at the Transitional Health Services in Kannapolis. Mrs. Blevins was born July 20, 1912 in Wise County, Virginia to the late Jeffs and Bertha Gaultney. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Brownlow Blevins and two sons; Zane and Gerald Blevins. Mrs. Blevins moved to Ashe County from Virginia at age 15 and lived here until moving to Kannapolis in 1956.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 30th at the Healing Springs Baptist Church. Rev. David Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in the Healing Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 till 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Mrs. Blevins is survived by:

One daughter: Sue Shaffer of Chickasha, OK

Three sons: Ed Blevins of Warrensville, NC, Alan Blevins of Monroe, NC and James Blevins of Kannapolis, NC

Two brothers: Ed Gaultney of Kings Mountain, NC and Claude Gaultney of Ashe County

21 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
