Sgt. Lance Cameron Roark age 28, of Fleetwood, NC died on Thursday, June 27, 2013. Sgt. Roark was born on January 2, 1985 in Boone, NC to Kyle Edward Roark and Susan Colvard Carter. Sgt. Roark loved to skateboard, snowboard, golf and fish. He had a kind, adventurous spirit and loved to be around people. Lance was very proud of being an Army Ranger. He was stationed in Savannah, GA at Hunter Army Air Field. Lance served five tours in Afghanistan. Lance loved his country and his family and was proud of his home town of Ashe County.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 11:00 am at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 pm on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
Sgt. Roark is survived by: his mother & step father, Susan & Bill Carter of Jefferson, his father & step mother, Kyle & Alicia Roark of Fleetwood, two brothers, Chancey Roark of Lansing and Kelly Roark of Fleetwood, two step sisters, Lisa Sturgill of Lansing and Ashley Toliver of Todd, his grandmothers, Shelba Colvard of Crumpler and Geneva Roark of Creston, 2 nieces and 2 nephews, and several aunts and uncles also survive.
