Shirley Jean (Hudler) Baldwin

Shirley Hudler Baldwin, age 83 flew into the arms of Jesus on July 19, 2023. Mrs. Hudler was born on March 14, 1940 in Crumpler, NC to Webb Isaac and Jessie Wilma Goings Hudler. Shirley has joyfully reunited with her husband, John Baldwin; son, Shane Baldwin; parents, Webb and Jessie Hudler; maternal grandparents, John and Etta Goings; paternal grandmother, Beatrice Hudler; uncle and aunt, Nick and Winnie Blackburn; and brother, Fred Hudler.

Shirley is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Chuck Eldridge; daughter-in-law, Brandy Baldwin; five grandchildren, Michael, Josh, Will, Blake, and Dylan; three great-grandchildren, Callie, John, and Scarlett; life-long sister-in-law and friend, Nell Baldwin; several nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.

Shirley lived her entire life in Ashe County. She retired from Sprague Electric. Shirley and John were foster parents to several children over the years and each held a special place in their hearts. Shirley was a talented author and poet. She loved to scrapbook and never got sick of looking at pictures. It would be impossible to count how many books she read throughout her life. Shirley remained humble and never complained, but chose to focus on her loved ones. Shane talked about how special she and John made his childhood and the strength they instilled in him. Her grandchildren lovingly recall watching movies and putting together crafts with her. Shirley and Pat held a special bond and talked almost on a daily basis. Shirley was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend to so many. Her absence will surely leave all who knew her longing for the day that we will reunite. Shirley remained faithful to Christ and we are joyful that she has found her way home to the Father.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 24, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Healing Springs Baptist Church by Rev. David Blackburn, Rev. William Greer, and Rev. Michael Drake. Burial will follow in the Healing Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Monday, July 24, 2023 prior to the funeral service at the church.
