Shirley Ann (Day) Bare McMillian

Shirley Ann Day Bare McMillian, age 82 of West Jefferson, died Thursday morning, October 18, 2018 at Margate Health and Rehab.  Mrs. McMillain was born Wednesday, April 29, 1936 in Ashe County to the late Herbert and Grace Jones Day.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, James McMillian, daughter, Brenda Bare Carson, son, James Michael McMillian, three brothers, Randall, Russell and Herbert Day Jr. as well as two sisters, Deborah Price and Louise Hart. Shirley was a member of Wagoner Baptist Church.  She loved spending time working in her flower and vegetable gardens.

Mrs. McMillian is survived and will be missed by her daughter, Patricia Bare Severt of Lexington as well as her two sisters, Margaret Marsh of Clemmons and Wanda Bare of Jefferson.  Two grandchildren, Jennifer Holcomb of Durham and Amanda Koonce of Portsmith, VA, one great-grandchild, Eleanor Holcomb and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services were held on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Day and Rev. Steve Viers. The family received friends from 1:00-2:00 pm.  Burial followed in Jefferson City Cemetery.
