Shirley Ann Woodie Sheets

Shirley Ann Woodie Sheets, age 84 of West Jefferson, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at her home. She was born February 21, 1940 in Ashe County to the late Edward and Ethel Woodie. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Johnnie Lee Church, an infant sister, infant children, Ricky and Linda, brothers, Quincy, Junior, Vance, Glenn, Clyde and Doug Woodie and sister, Virginia Dare Woodie.

Shirley was a loving mother and grandmother.  She loved the Lord and enjoyed going to church, reading the Bible and spending time with her beloved grandchildren.  She loved her family and will be missed by many.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church in West Jefferson by Rev. Kirby McNeill, Rev. Joey McClure and Rev. Keith Woodie. Burial will follow in Calvary Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Glendale Springs. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Sheets is survived by her husband, Hobert Wayne Sheets, one daughter, Kathy Ann Church of West Jefferson, one grandson, Johnny Shatley Jr. and wife Kristen, one granddaughter, Stacey Lincoln and husband Wesley, three great-grandchildren, Jacob Lincoln, Carson Shatley and Waylon Lincoln and one brother, Kenny Woodie and wife Ann of West Jefferson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in West Jefferson.
