Sybil Purdum

Sybil Irene Purdum, age 89, of Sparta, NC, died Friday, October 14, 2005, at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Sparta. Mrs. Purdum was born August 27, 1916 in Ashe County. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 16, 2005, 2:00 p.m. at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Rev. Al LeMay and the Rev. Michael LeMay will officiate. Entombment will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2005, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel prior to the service. Mrs. Purdum is survived by: three daughters, Mary Lou Woodie of Laurel Springs, NC, Linda Lee LeMay of Noblesville, IN, Judith Lenderman of Covington, GA; two brothers, Orville Houck of Warrensville, NC, Walter Houck of Laurel Springs, NC; three sisters, Grace Mabe, Winnie Good, both of Sparta, Earline Shepherd of Laurel Springs, NC; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; 1 step great grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survive.
