Thelma Maye, age 82, of Warrensville, NC, died Monday, May 11, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Maye was born September 15, 1926 in Ashe County, NC to the late Carl and Bessie Faircloth Miller. Mrs. Maye was the widow of William "Bill" Maye. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Parsons. She was a homemaker who loved to garden and especially taking care of her family. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and attended until she was no longer able. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 15, 2009 at 2 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel in Jefferson, NC by Rev. George Grubb, Rev. Thomas Russell, Rev. Tommy Dollar, and Rev. Joey McClure. Burial will follow in the Maye Cemetery in Warrensville. The family will receive friends from 7 pm to 9 pm Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Mrs. Maye is survived by: Five daughters: Betty Lewis and husband Clarence of Warrensville, NC; Linda Stanley and husband Larry of Warrensville, NC; Judy Delp and husband Von of Jefferson, NC; Donna Tucker and husband Harry of Elkin, NC; Barbara Woodie and husband Rick of West Jefferson, NC. Three sons: Benny Maye and wife Maxine of Warrensville, NC; Ray Junior Maye of Warrensville, NC; Jerry Maye and wife Kathy of Mouth of Wilson, VA. Three sisters: Lucille Osborne of Kannapolis, NC; Ruth Powers and Elsie Bowen, both of West Jefferson, NC. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
