Thomas Dean Blevins, Sr. better known as Dean age 87 of Lansing, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at his home. Mr. Blevins was born on February 17, 1930 in Ashe County to Arthur Lloyd and Lela Mae Massey Blevins. Including his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Paul, Fred, Robert, and James Blevins, sisters, Violet Blevins, Ruth Blackburn, Mary Oliver and son Thomas Dean Blevins, Jr. Mr. Blevins retired from the NCDOT after 30 years of service as a Motor Grader Operator. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a faithful member and trustee of Landmark Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and traveling many miles to revivals with his grandson and loved his family. He was a loving husband, daddy and papaw.
Mr. Blevins is survived by: his wife of 61 years, Mary Jones Blevins, two daughters, Norma Hartzog and husband Rick and Karen Wurth and husband Rick both Lansing, three grandchildren, Tim Hartzog, Bro. Tommy Wurth, Robby Wurth, one step granddaughter, Jenny Wurth, one great-grandson, Timothy Hartzog, two sisters, Faye Testerman of Grassy Creek and Beryl Carter of Lansing, three brothers, R.L. Blevins, Rex Blevins and Larry Blevins all Lansing, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Landmark Baptist Church by Brother Tommy Wurth, Brother Dennis Eller and Brother Fred Steelman. Burial will follow at the Blevins Cemetery with Military Rites. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
