Our hearts were saddened, April 4th, 2008 when the Lord called our loved one and friend Val Dayne Phipps home. He was born September 13, 1951 in Jefferson, NC, to the late Worth and Norette Phipps (Brinegar). Upon graduation from Ashe Central High School he began building a successful life for himself and his family. A man of many talents, he was a farmer, became a licensed plumber and real estate agent, and a co-owner of 2 successful businesses Active Realty and Quality Evergreens. Val enjoyed spending time with family camping, fishing, and traveling. Val is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Ellen, his children Stephanie Phipps of Greensboro, Chad Phipps and wife Tara of Fleetwood, and his three grandchildren, Kelsea of Greensboro, Morgan and Ryder of Fleetwood; his mother Norette Brinegar of Crumpler; and three brothers, Danny, Shannon and Heath Phipps, all of Crumpler; and several nieces and nephews. Val was preceded in death by his father Worth Phipps, stepfather Robert Brinegar, and sister-in-law Nancy Phipps. A Celebration of Life service was held Sunday April 6, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Bald Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Lawrence Goodman and Rev. Russell Sheets officiating. Interment followed at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetary.
