Velma Barker

Mrs. Bernice Beal Barker, age 84, of Grassy Creek, NC died Sunday, December 22, 2002 at the Ashe Living Center.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday 11:00 am at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel in Jefferson with Rev. Peter Parrish and Rev. Bill Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Howell Hill Cemetery, Lansing, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 ?8:00 P.M. Monday evening at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Barker was born in Catawaba County, NC July 30, 1918 to Calvin and Sallie Campbell Beal. She was preceded in death by her husband Al Barker and a son Denny Gean Barker.

One sister ? Alice Barnes of Newton, NC

Three brothers ? Coyte Beal, Ray Beal and Gaither Beal all of Newton, NC.

20 Grandchildren and 17great grandchildren 1 great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews also survive.
