View this Videotribute Mrs. Viola Blevins, age 95, of Whitetop, VA, died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Ashe Memorial Hospital in Jefferson, NC. Mrs. Blevins was born June 8, 1912 in Ashe County to the late Wiley P. and Margret Rose Johnson. Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie D. Blevins; a daughter, Ann Thurston; and a step-son, Jessie Jones. She was a member of Freewill Baptist Church in West Virginia. Mrs. Blevins enjoyed reading, picnics, and most of all, spending time with her family. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 2 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel in Jefferson, NC. Reverend Wayne Osborne will officiate. Burial will follow in Whitetop Church Cemetery in Whitetop, VA. The family will receive friends from 12 pm until 2 pm Saturday prior to the funeral service at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. The family will be meeting at the home of Sylvia Spencer, 10298 Hwy. 194 N., Lansing, NC. Flowers will be appreciated. Mrs. Blevins is survived by: One son: Don Blevins of Roanoke, VA. Five daughters: Sylvia Spencer of Lansing, NC, Ruania Stansberry of West Jefferson, NC, Agnes Yates of Taylors Valley, VA, Kay Faw of Taylorsville, NC, and Gay Funk of Galax, VA. One brother: Paul Johnson of Lincolnton, NC. Three sisters: Ruth Sheets of Lansing, NC, Rena Darnell of Jefferson, NC, and Rosie Taylor of Whitetop, VA.
