Vernie Powers
Vernie Green Powers age 80 of Warrensville, NC died Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at his home. Mr. Powers was born on January 5, 1922 in Ashe County, NC to Henry and Mary Collins Powers. He retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation and was a Deacon at Temple Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. at the Oak Grove Baptist Church. Rev. David Lyalls, Rev. Glenn Woodie, Rev. Tommy Dollar, and Rev. George Grubb will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 6, 2002 from 7:00-9:00 P.M. at Badger Funeral Home.
Mr. Powers is survived by:
Wife: Ruth Powers
Sisters: Rose Darnell and Georgia Laviner both of Kannapolis, NC
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
