Vester Lee Mahaffey Sr.

Vester Lee Mahaffey Sr., age 80 of West Jefferson, died Monday, December 16, 2019 at his home. Mr. Mahaffey was born February 1, 1939 in Ashe County to the late Coy and Lizzie Stanley Mahaffey.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Ella Gaye Barker Mahaffey, brothers, Garland and Larry Mahaffey and sister, Blanche Atwood.

Vester loved hunting, and being outdoors.  He also enjoyed going to livestock auctions and small animal sales.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren most of all.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Brother Ed Hall.  Burial will follow in the Miller-Roland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 -2 PM prior to the service.

Mr. Mahaffey is survived by, his son, Vester Mahaffey Jr. and wife Wendy of Laurel Springs, daughter, Eyvone Ham and husband Larry of West Jefferson, brothers, Estel “Doc” Mahaffey and Ted Mahaffey, sisters, Valorie Smith, Shirley Durbor & Betty Blevins all of PA, longtime companion, Pamela Purvis of the home, grandchildren, Emma Ham and husband Larry, Sierra Mahaffey and Cheyenne Mahaffey and great-grandchild, Isaiah Shumate.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.
