Virginia Taylor Absher

Mrs. Virginia Taylor Absher, age 88 of West Jefferson died on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Glenbridge Health & Rehab Center in Boone. Mrs. Absher was born on March 25, 1927 in Ashe County, NC to Earl Raymond and Nelia Hodge Taylor. Mrs. Absher was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sidney Samuel Absher, four brothers, James Dale Taylor, Harold Lloyd Taylor, William Robert Taylor, and James Earl Taylor. Mrs. Absher retired from United Chemi-Con. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church in West Jefferson. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with children at the daycare in Lansing. She was a devoted caregiver for her mother, father, and husband.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 10:00 am at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Ralph Davis. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 am to 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Absher is survived by: Son, Tommy Absher of West Jefferson; Sister, Mary Canady and husband Lee of Mesa, AZ; Granddaughter, Chelsea Rutherford of West Jefferson; Niece, Betty Chitester and husband Ed of Charlotte.
