Virginia Delp Brown, age 80, of Crumpler, NC, died Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation in Boone, NC. Mrs. Brown was born October 3, 1927 in Alleghany County, NC to the late Fields Stephen Delp and Ethel York Delp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Brown worked for fifteen years at Penry Manufacturing Co. in Mouth of Wilson, VA. She was a member of Chestnut Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Crumpler, NC. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 2 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Randal Greene and Rev. David Fox. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm Saturday prior to the funeral service at Ashelawn. Mrs. Brown is survived by: Her husband: Spencer Brown; One daughter: Kathy Roark and husband Meredith of Deep Gap, NC; Two sons: Larry Brown and wife Joan of Crumpler, NC, and Roger Brown and wife Brenda of West Jefferson, NC; One sister: Laura Crouse of Elkton, MD; Four grandchildren: Patti Halsey, Katina, Wilcox, Brady Brown, and Angie Roark; One step-grandson: Devin Phipps; 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
