Vivian D.Miller, age 77 of Jefferson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at her home. Mrs. Miller was born September 29, 1946 in Pender County, NC to the late Arthur Hagle DeBose and Agnes Sheets DeBose Crepps. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jake (J. C.) Miller, son, Jason Charles Miller and half-brother, Arthur Wayne DeBose.
For 44 years, Vivian dedicated her life to the medical field, leaving her mark on the hearts of both colleagues and patients alike. Throughout her career, Vivian fostered deep relationships with her coworkers and patients, earning their trust and admiration with her warm demeanor and expert care. Her skillful hands extended far beyond the realm of nursing, as she demonstrated a natural talent for carpentry and various other practical skills. Vivian found joy and solace in the simple pleasures of life. She found immense fulfillment in tending to her garden, taking care of her yard and cooking.
Vivian was a member of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church, her faith was an integral part of her life, and she cherished the moments spent attending services when her health allowed.
Mrs. Miller is survived by one son, Jeff Miller (Beth) of Jefferson, one daughter, Carol Miller of Jefferson, daughter-in-law, Beth Miller Brooke (Glenn) of Jefferson, one brother, John Crepps of West Jefferson, three sisters, Linda Little and Janice Lindley both of Winston Salem and Beth Mash ( Wayne) of West Jefferson, five grandchildren, Colby Taylor of Elk Creek, VA, Jake Miller (Ashley) of Jefferson, Brandon Miller (Lindsey) of Lansing, Monica Edwards (John) of West Jefferson and Garrett Miller (Hayley) of Jefferson. Ten great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church by Rev. Russell Sheets and Rev. Jake Miller. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
