Walter Phillips

Walter Edward "Ed" Phillips age 85 of West Jefferson, NC died Thursday, February 5, 2004 at his home.
Mr. Phillips was born on October 8, 1918 in Ashe County, NC to Walter and Bertha Burkett Phillips.
He served in the United States Army, serving in World War II in Germany where he was a Prisoner of War.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 7, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at the West Jefferson United Methodist Church. Rev. Ken Morris and Rev. A.B. Weaver will officiate. A military graveside will follow at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, February 6, 2004 from 6:30-8:30 P.M. at Badger Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Ashe County, PO Box 421, Jefferson, NC 28640; West Jefferson United Methodist Church, 107 West Second Street, West Jefferson, NC 28694; American Heart Association, PO Box 233, Jefferson, NC 28640.

Wife: Mary Ferguson Phillips

Son: Thomas Phillips of Richmond, VA

Daughter: Betsy Ward of Salisbury, NC

4 Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
