Warren McKinney Parsons, age 91 of Lansing, died Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mr. Parsons was born February 14, 1926 in Ashe County to the late Robert and Ruth Childers Parsons. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Eldreth Parsons, son, James Earl Parsons, brothers, Connie Parsons and Blaine Parsons, sisters, Virginia Litchfield and Lissie Lumpkin.
Mr. Parsons loved his country and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a hard worker and retired from Sprague Electric after many years of service. Warren was a member of Landmark Baptist Church. He had a special love for his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 16, 2018 at Landmark Baptist Church by Rev. Charles McCoy and Rev. Fred Steelman. Burial will follow in the Parsons Cemetery with Military Rites. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Thursday, February 15th at Badger Funeral Home.
Mr. Parsons is survived by: his son, Roger Lee Parsons and wife Linda of Hickory, sisters, Mae Baker of Arizona and Francis McBride of Hayes, grandchildren, Wayne Parsons and wife Cindy, Shannon Parsons, Roger Parsons Jr. and Sherri Smith and husband Mark, great-grandchildren, Autumn Smith, Tristan Smith & Grayson Parsons, special friend, Gretel Howell and several nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
