William Henry Phelps "Willie"

William Henry Phelps, affectionately known as Willie, age 63 of West Jefferson passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 at his home.  Willie was born on January 8, 1961 in Lexington, North Carolina to the late John William and Ruth Love Barley Phelps.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Avery Phelps and Paul Phelps.

Willie was a dedicated worker and spent many years at the Phoenix Chair Factory, where he applied his talents and attention to detail to craft quality furniture. Willie was passionate about tinkering and working on things around the house. Whether it was fixing a leaky faucet, adjusting a squeaky door, or building something from scratch.

He is survived by three sisters, Barbara Phelps of West Jefferson, Alice Roten of Wilkesboro and Ruby Campbell of Lexington. Willie will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 2:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Tommy McClure.  Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:00pm half an hour prior to the service.
