Mr. William Arthur Sheridan, 75, of Lansing passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at his home. Bill was born in Clinton, Iowa to Dominic and Eileen Sheridan. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James (in infancy) and Patrick and his sister, Eileen Runge.
Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Morgan Sheridan; daughters, Amy Beveridge (Dave) of Winston Salem, Emily McKeand (Anthony) of Wake Forest; sisters, Mary Clare Novotny of Chicago and Kathleen Harrison of Morrison; three grandchildren, Sheridan Beveridge, Gracie and Grady McKeand. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Thoughtful and sincere, honest and hardworking, Bill was the definition of a good man. He was a member of the Air Force before marrying, worked for IBM for more than 30 years, working in the Mid West and Raleigh, NC. His retirement found him in Ashe County where he could explore his love of the mountains and being outdoors by hiking, gardening, watching the birds and working on his house. He was a dedicated usher at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society as he enjoyed helping others. Bill was also known as being an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Bill never forgot where he came from and was so proud of his heritage. He spent many years researching and studying his Irish family history and still subscribed to his hometown newspaper. He felt a true connection to Ireland and climbed Crough Patrick to fulfill a lifelong dream.
Nothing made Bill happier than to be a husband, father and grandfather. He was a dedicated companion, the proudest father and an extraordinary grandfather. In his own quiet and selfless way, Bill made everyone feel special and his loss will be felt by many.
