William Nichols better known as Bill age 75 of Lansing died on Saturday at his home. Mr. Nichols was born on May 29, 1942 to Noah Smith and Laura Ella Osborne Nichols in Ashe County North Carolina. He was proceeded in death by his parents and two sisters; Wanza Hurley and Retha Weaver. Mr. Nichols enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching football and basketball games in his spare time. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Nichols was known as a hard worker and especially enjoyed carpentry. Bill was a generous man and was even able to donate land for Pond Mountain Volunteer Fire Department to build station number 3.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dan Hess and Rev. Jim Greer. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at Badger Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Perry Shepherd Cemetery.
Mr. Nichols is survived by, h is wife, Roberteen Perry Nichols, two daughters, Melinda Lyalls and Monica Nichols both of Lansing, one son, Willie Nichols of West Jefferson, two brothers, Worth Nichols of Creston and Ronda Nichols of Warrensville; 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
