William Greyson Ashley

William Greyson Ashley age 27 of Asheville, NC died on Friday. Greyson was born in Watauga County, NC on July 7, 1990 to William Robert “Bobby” and Melissa Kemp Ashley. He was preceded in death by his mother, Melissa Kemp Coughlan on April 4, 2016. He enjoyed going to music festivals, listening and playing all kinds of music. He enjoyed hiking and cooking. Education was important to Greyson, he had just completed the spring semester at the University of North Carolina, Asheville where he was honored by being placed on the Dean’s List.  Crossword puzzles was one of the many ways he would challenge his mind. Greyson could best be described as a free spirit who loved life to its fullest.

Left to cherish his memory are, his father and step mother, Bobby and Lisa Ashley of Jefferson, his grandmother, Janet Ashley of Laurel Springs, step brother, Riley Edmondson, step sister, Lauren Edmondson, his girlfriend, Sara Castillo of Asheville, and many friends; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

A Gathering of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 11:00 am- 12:00 noon at Groce Funeral Home, 1401 Patton Avenue in Asheville, NC.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 6:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Jim Francis. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the home of Bobby and Lisa Ashley, 281 West Street in Jefferson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ashe County Coalition for the Homeless, PO Box 331, West Jefferson, NC 28694.
