Willow Greay Wyrick Dishman

Willow Greay Wyrick Dishman, 96, of Jefferson, passed away on December 21, 2024 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Born on November 22, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Annie Bell Bare Wyrick.

She was preceded in death by her parents, devoted husband, Mont Dishman; two sons, Ricky Dishman Sr. and Jimmy Dishman; five sisters, Leona Black, Dema Minton, Bobbie Black, Verlis Trivette, and Adrian Speaks; and her brother, Clarence Wyrick.

A hard worker with a creative spirit, Willow enjoyed sewing, quilting, and gardening, pursuits that brought beauty and warmth to her family and home. She worked at Sprague Electric for 20 years, later dedicating another 15 years to Jefferson Apparel.

Willow was a faithful member of Orion Baptist Church, where she found strength and solace in her faith. Above all, she cherished her role as a caregiver to her grandchildren, nurturing and guiding them during their formative years with unconditional love and wisdom.

Mrs. Dishman is survived by: one son, Jerry Dishman (Gail) of West Jefferson, daughter in-law, Joyce Dishman of Jefferson, four grandchildren, Darin Dishman (Vickie), Doug Dishman (Regina), David Dishman (Ashley), Ricky Dishman, Jr. (Lisa), four great-grandchildren, Jesse Dishman, Amber Dishman, Josie Dishman (Cory), Jadah Harmon (Caleb), four step great-grandchildren, Justin Triplett, Madison Huylebroeck, Mitchell Keen, Natalie Pritchard, seven great-great grandchildren, Jesslynn, Marielynn, Nova, Tuff, Lane, Torin and one on the way soon; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Michael Carter and Rev. Tommy Dollar. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm prior to the service at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the family.

The family is meeting at the home of Darin and Vickie Dishman at 691 Dishman Rd. in Jefferson.

Her legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Willow will be deeply missed but forever remembered by her family, friends, and community.
