Wilma Brown

Wilma Merle Brown, age 78, of Crumpler, NC, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at her daughters home. Mrs. Brown was born May 13, 1927 in Ashe County, the Grassy Creek community to the late Walter and Lora Ballou Phipps. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Guy Brown, one sister and two brothers. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and an active member of the New River Baptist Church.

Until only recently, she remained involved in many of the church activities including Vacation Bible School and WMU.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2006 at the New River Baptist Church. Rev. Wayne Jones and Rev. Dan Little will officiate. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Friday at Badger Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the New River Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Jaylene Warden, 9721 NC Hwy 113, Piney Creek, NC 28675 or to The Gideon's International, P.O. Box 993, West Jefferson, NC 28694.

Mrs. Brown is survived by:

Sons: William Guy Brown, Jr. and wife Linda of Cary, NC
Mike Brown and wife Gena of Morrisville, NC

Daughter: Kathy Brown Bower and husband John of Jefferson, NC

Five grandchildren: Jennifer Brown, Chris Bower, Beverly Bower Glienke, Stephanie Brown Carroll and William Brown.

One great-grandchild: Ethan Carroll

Several nieces and nephews.
