Wilma Christine Witherspoon Vannoy, age 80 of Jefferson, died Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Vannoy was born March 18, 1924 in Ashe County to the late James and Effie Witherspoon. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Vannoy, a daughter; Penny Christine Vannoy, two brothers; Lucius and Zeb Witherspoon. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and also a Sunday school teacher. Her many activities include being a WMU member and a volunteer with Ashe Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 20, 2004 at Friendship Baptist Church. Rev. David Grinnell, Rev. Mike Hamby and Rev. Johnny Blevins will officiate. Burial will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 till 9:00 PM, Wednesday, May 19th at Friendship Baptist Church. Ashe Memorial Hospital, 200 Hospital Ave., Jefferson, NC 28640.

Mrs. Vannoy is survived by:

Sons: Eddie, Mark and Tim Vannoy all of Jefferson, NC

Brothers: Lloyd and John Witherspoon both of Jefferson, NC

Sister-in-laws: Lucy Lyalls, Pansy Collier, Faye Sharpe and husband Burl, Jean Lewis and husband Sam and Opal Martin and husband Albert

11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews
