Winona Horne

Winona Boatwright Horne, age 82, of West Jefferson, NC died Monday, May 7, 2012 at Watauga Medical Center in Boone, NC. Ms. Horne was born on May 3, 1930 in Chesterfield, SC to Lewis Leroy and Beulah Davis Boatwright. Ms. Horne was preceded in death by her son, David Glen Osborne, and three brothers, Davis Boatwright, Billy Boatwright, and L.C. Boatwright. She was a strong church member of Buffalo Baptist Church and enjoyed reading her Bible and crocheting. She loved to joke with people. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Peak Creek Church of the Brethren by Rev. Dean Watson. Burial will follow in the Peak Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Ms. Horne is survived by: Daughter, Karen Lee Dolby of Middletown, VA, Daughter, Rita Ann Burquist of Hillsville, VA, Daughter, Rebecca Lynn Osborne of Hillsville, VA, Son, Nelse Osborne of Jefferson, NC, Son, John Russell Osborne of Pawpaw, VA, Brother, Bernard Lee Boatwright of Kannapolis, NC, Brother, Jack Boatwright of Kannapolis, NC, Sister, Helen Chenck of Kannapolis, NC, Sister, Louise Lilly Overcash of Kannapolis, NC. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Flowers will be appreciated.
