Wrenn Mangum

Mrs. Wrenn Sharpe Mangum age 64 of West Jefferson, NC died Monday, March 2, 2009 at her home.  Wrenn was born October 10, 1944 in Iredell County to the late John and Lela Shook Sharpe.  Mrs. Mangum retired from the faculty of the North Carolina School of the Deaf where she also served as a private tutor.  In her retirement years she relocated in Ashe County with her late husband, The Rev. Maynard Mangum.  She was an active member of the West Jefferson United Methodist Church serving as a member of Worship Committee, and the WJUMC Chancel Choir.  She was the director of the WJUMC Vacation Bible School and was currently serving as a teacher of the elementary Sunday School Class. She was active in the development of the West Jefferson United Methodist Church Kid's Club.  In addition to her church work, she was an active member of the Ashe County Humane Society. In addition to five cousins and a host of friends, she is survived by her beloved faithful canine companions, Jessie and Max. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 11:30 AM at West Jefferson United Methodist Church with Rev. Kirk McNeill officiating.  Inurnment will follow in the church's columbarium. A gathering of friends will be from 10:30-11:30AM prior to the service at West Jefferson United Methodist Church Hensley Hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the West Jefferson United Methodist Church, PO Box 826, West Jefferson, NC 28694.
