Zenna Mae (Royal) Roten

Zenna Mae Royal Roten, age 100 of Laurel Springs passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at her home. Mrs. Roten was born on March 3, 1920 in Wilkes County to Trealy and Mary Perry Royal. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Odell Clarence Roten; two sons, Jimmy Dean Roten and Bruce Roten; and several brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Roten was a member of Scottsville Baptist Church. She enjoyed raising a garden and flowers, sewing, crocheting, and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Roten is survived by:  five sons, J.B. Roten of Laurel Springs, Jerry Roten of Crumpler, Clarence Roten of Mouth of Wilson, VA, Roger Roten of Hickory, and Billy Roten of Laurel Springs; five daughters, Louise Testerman of Statesville, Imogene Rouse of Kannapolis, Helen Cooper of Taylorsville, Linda Spears of Wilkesboro, and Audrey Brooks of Lansing; two brothers, Freeman Royal and Ed Royal, both of Wilkesboro; 74 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Pastor Chuck Call. Burial will follow in the Richardson-Roten Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
