Zetta Winebarger Paisley, age 80, of West Jefferson passed away surrounded by her children on December 31, 2023. Mrs. Paisley was born on November 21, 1943 in Ashland, West Virginia to Jess and Venie Patrick Winebarger. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arvil Winebarger (brother), Robert Winebarger (brother), Vadie Winebarger (sister), Jack Sturgill (brother-in-law) and Timmy Glenn (son-in-law).
Zetta loved gardening, reading, playing cards, and partaking in her favorite chocolates which were usually “stashed away” beside her recliner. She enjoyed “get-togethers”, parties and holidays because this was a time filled with family, friends and neighbors. If one could not attend, she always made sure that a plate of food was delivered to one’s door. Her home was always filled with family who would stop in for her advice, a bite to eat, or just to sit and socialize. She savored her home filled with people whom she loved and cared for. She loved listening to blue grass and country music, especially Alan Jackson, and years spent watching the Grand Ole Opray on television. Zetta made the best biscuits and gravy and the best chocolate pie that had everyone asking, “make me one”.
Zetta’s passion was helping others. She loved sitting out on her porch swing, talking and giving her advice. Her lifetime of wisdom will always be remembered. She stressed that time rolls by remembering to cherish the important things because a person will never get time back. She often would refer herself as “a wise old woman”. Zetta instilled work and family ethics in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She had a heart of gold that was full of love for her family and friends. She was selfless, compassionate, and always put others first. She made sure on Christmas Eve to tell her family that she loved each one and thanked each one. Zetta was very appreciative for life and lived a life with gratitude to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She made sure that her family knew to always trust in the Lord and to put their faith in Him. Zetta loved her family and was proud of each one. She was the “foundation” for many. Mrs. Paisley would say “Don’t cry for me when I am gone, I will always be with you”. Then she would finish by saying, “Continue to be family and help each other out, just because I am gone doesn’t mean family’s gone”. She will be missed tremendously by her family and those who knew her.
